What You’ll Do

Learn essential Indian cooking techniques in this hands-on class led by expert instructor Chef Meena.

Join Chef Meena in this hands-on cooking class designed for all skill levels, focused on essential Indian home-style techniques. You’ll begin by preparing vegetable pakoras, learning how to mix a well-balanced chickpea batter and fry them to a crisp, light texture. Next, you’ll build a creamy tomato-onion base for classic shahi paneer, focusing on spice balance and techniques for cooking paneer gently so it stays soft and tender.

The class continues with fragrant cumin rice, where you’ll learn how to toast whole spices and steam rice evenly, followed by a traditional Indian rice pudding (kheer), cooked low and slow and delicately flavored with cardamom and saffron. Each step is broken down in a practical, approachable way so you can confidently recreate these dishes at home. This class is designed for all skill levels and emphasizes practical techniques, approachable flavors, and traditional home cooking. All food prepared during the class can be taken home; guests are encouraged to bring their own containers.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

My partner and I loved the course. Chef Meena was lovely and a polite host to us the whole time. We cooked shahi paneer with jeera rice and vegetable pakora. With Chef Meena's guidance, we were able to make a delicious dish that feels easy to make. We left with lots of leftovers and we look forward to trying it again by ourselves.

We very much enjoyed our time with chef Meena. We made pakoras, jeera rice, shahi paneer and coriander chutney. Chef Meena had also prepared tamarind chutney and rice pudding ahead of time for us. The food was delicious and we appreciated how simple the recipes were. We can definitely reproduce this at home. We’re very grateful to chef Meena for ensuring that the kitchen was gluten free and the recipes were all naturally gluten free. We would recommend this to anyone interested in learning how to create an authentic Indian meal at home with easy to find ingredients and easy to follow recipes.
