What You’ll Do

Build core Indian cooking skills with hands-on techniques like spice toasting, sauce building and bread making.

In this practical, technique-focused cooking class, you'll learn how to make essential Indian dishes from scratch.

Start by cooking a turmeric red lentil daal while practicing proper spice toasting and layering. Then, prepare homemade parathas, learning how to mix, knead and cook them on a hot pan for perfect texture. Next, choose chicken or pork vindaloo and build a curry base using fresh garlic, ginger, curry paste and coriander. You’ll also make aloo gobi, focusing on proper vegetable prep and seasoning with amchur powder. Finish by making rasmalai, learning how to shape paneer and simmer it in a cardamom syrup.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our lesson with Chef Mathieu. He graciously and patiently walked us through the process of creating a delicious meal. We have tried cooking South Asian food before and definitely feel that this experience as upped our game. We highly recommend him.

Great experience with chef Mathieu. A small group but thoroughly engaging and enjoyable. Mat’s knowledge of spices and their combinations was excellent. We were put to tasks as a part of the team in the prep work and then sat down to enjoy our labors The results and flavors were restaurant quality. Thank you Chef Mathieu

Chef Mathieu was very welcoming and we had a great time hanging out and learning with him! We are total beginners and Mathieu made us feel like that wasn't a problem at all. Food was amazing. Highly recommend.
