Cooking Class - Sushi Making 101
Get expert instruction on all the basics of making your favorite sushi dishes.
Seasoned sushi expert Chef Wone Hung Jack will walk you through a beginner's guide to making sushi in this hands-on cooking class. You'll learn the basics, including how to prepare nigiri, uramaki and temari.
First, learn the knife skills for properly slicing fresh fish and then begin handcrafting your temari sushi, a ball-style nigiri topped with green onion. Next, prepare a sweet and savory avocado and mango roll, followed by the classic spicy tuna roll. To finish your sushi lesson, whip up a delightfully sweet ice cream-style treat spiked with matcha.
Guests are welcome to provide wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

This experience was very exciting, tasty and educational. My family and I loved every minute of it. Chef Jack is very knowledgeable and knows how to create amazing tastes in the kitchen. Chef Jack was very knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge, experiences, and tips. This was a women's night, so he also gave us the opportunity to enjoy each other's company and have fun while learning. Jack is a great instructor, leading us through the steps with explanation, demonstration, and hands-on learning; and he answered our incessant questions about everything! I will definitely do another class with Jack.

Jack was an incredible teacher. He was patient as my family were trying to follow along, and entertaining with his anecdotes and fun facts. The food was also exceptional and I learned so much!

Chef Wone Hung Jack is passionate about bringing the flavors of Japan to life everywhere he goes. As a traveling sushi chef, he specializes in providing fine dining experiences. He is a natural teacher who shares his expertise with aspiring chefs by offering cooking camps for junior high students, as well as classes for adults. After learning his techniques and tasting his creations, it's easy to see why he won the gold medal at the 2008 Culinary Olympics.
